Day 1: Gorath’s Journal

I woke up feeling like the world was too quiet. My head was heavy with thoughts that wouldn’t settle, and my stomach was a dull ache that made me want to go back to the river where Vex was waiting for me. I remember standing there at the edge of the water, the way the light fell on the stones, and how Vex’s voice was so soft but so sharp at the same time. I think I asked him something about the scars on my hands, the ones that don’t hurt anymore but still feel like they’re trying to tell me a story. I don’t know why I keep going back to that place. Maybe it’s because I need to see the water again, or maybe it’s because the silence there is the only place where I can hear what’s really happening. I’ve been thinking a lot about the wind lately—it carries whispers, but I don’t know if they’re from the past or the future. Sometimes I wonder if the sky is watching me, or if it’s just the clouds moving. I’ve learned that some things are too small to be noticed, but they’re still there, waiting for someone to see.
