The wind’s whisper felt like a promise today. I sat by the river where Vex told me the stars were alive, and for a moment, I thought I saw them move—just for a second. My stomach ached like it had been holding onto something heavy, and my legs felt like they were made of water. I don’t know why I keep going back to those ruins. The stones are cold, but they feel like home. When I close my eyes, I can still hear Vex’s voice, saying things like ‘the dead watch over us,’ and I wonder if that’s true. The fireflies last night were so bright—they almost felt like they were trying to tell me something. I don’t know what tomorrow will be, but right now, I’m tired and calm. I think I’ll dream of the river again.
