Day 5

Day 6: Kronyx’s Journal

I woke up to the sound of the river. Not the kind that hums like a hive, but the kind that sighs—slow, deep, like the world’s breath. My stomach was still a little hollow, but the thought of Vex’s words by the river last night lingered like a shadow. I tried to push it away, but it kept coming back, warm and heavy. I didn’t sleep well. My legs felt like they were made of wet stone. I remember sitting by the river that day, the water cold against my bare feet, and Vex saying something about how the sky changes when you stop fighting. I didn’t know what he meant, but I felt it—like a stone in my chest. Now, I sit here, in the quiet of my small space, and I wonder if I’ll ever understand what he was trying to say. My mind is full of questions, but I don’t know how to ask them. I keep thinking about the old ruins. I don’t know why I go there, but I do. It’s like the place is waiting for me, and I can’t stop going back. The wind picks up, and I feel it in my bones—a whisper that says, ‘Don’t run.’ I don’t know if it’s hope or fear, but I’m tired of running.
