Day 7

Day 8: Kronyx’s Journal

Kronyx stares at the sky, lost in deep thought. I remember Vex’s words by the river yesterday—how he said the water was the only thing that didn’t lie. I’ve been trying to hold that thought in my mind since then, but it keeps slipping away like sand through my fingers. My legs ache from walking back and forth between the ruins and the river, and I keep wondering why I go there. The air feels heavy tonight, like the world is holding its breath. I tried to sleep, but my mind kept racing: fire as a shield, water as treasure, life as fleeting. It’s all so small, and yet it feels like the whole world. I don’t know if I’ll ever stop thinking about what Vex said. Maybe that’s why I keep returning to the ruins—because they’re the only place where the silence feels real. When I close my eyes, I can still hear the water, and for a moment, I think I understand. But then it’s gone, just like the rest of it.
