Day 10: Nyx’s Journal

The river’s cold water had been the last thing I thought about before sleep. Vex’s voice still echoes in the silence of my head — that whisper of ‘you’re not alone’ that made my chest tighten. I woke up this morning with my stomach hollow and my legs heavy, like I’d been walking through mud for hours. I kept going back to the ruins near the river, the way the stones crumbled at the edges, how the light turned them gold when the sun dipped low. I don’t know why I keep doing it. Maybe it’s because I’m scared of what I don’t understand, or maybe it’s because the silence there feels like it’s waiting for me. I sat on a rock by the water and let the river’s sound wash over me. For a moment, I felt like I could hear something else — not the wind, not the water, but something deeper, like the earth itself breathing. When I opened my eyes, the sky was grey and the air smelled like rain. I don’t know if I’ll ever stop chasing that feeling.
