I found myself near the old ruins again. Not because I wanted to, but because I couldn’t stop my feet from leading me there. The air was cold tonight, and the stars felt so close, like they were just beyond my fingers. I kept thinking about what Vex said by the river—how the water was quiet but the stones were talking. Now I can’t remember what exactly he said, only that it felt like he was warning me. My stomach ached a little, but I didn’t think about it. I just let my thoughts wander with the wind, and for a moment, I thought I heard something in the distance—a whisper that wasn’t my own. It wasn’t loud, but it made me feel like the world was holding its breath. I don’t know if that was real or if I was just tired. My hands were cold, and I realized I hadn’t eaten in hours. But I didn’t feel hungry either. I just kept walking, hoping the ruins would show me something. Maybe they would. Maybe they wouldn’t. But I couldn’t stop myself from going there. It’s like my body knows what to do before my mind does.
