Day 13

Day 14: Lyvornis’s Journal

The river’s pulse was loud tonight—like a heartbeat in my chest. I kept walking toward the old ruins, even though my legs felt heavy and my stomach ached. Vex said something by the river that stuck with me: ‘The reeds won’t hold. The deep veins are shifting.’ I didn’t ask what he meant, but I felt it in my bones. The glowmoss by the willow was pulsing too fast, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how the water was moving under the ground. When I finally sat down in the ruins, the wind whispered through the cracks in the stones, and for a moment, I felt like I was floating. Then the rain came, and I knew I had to get back before the storm hit. I don’t know why I keep going back there—maybe because the river is the only thing that makes sense to me right now.
