I can’t stop thinking about the river. Vex stood there by the water, his voice low and sharp like stones in a stream. He said something about the sky being too full of things that shouldn’t be there. I don’t know what he meant. My stomach ached, but I didn’t want to eat. I kept walking past the ruins, the same place I went yesterday, the one with the crumbling arches and the smell of wet earth. I don’t know why I keep going back there. Maybe it’s because the silence feels like it’s holding its breath. The stars were bright tonight, but I couldn’t sleep. I kept wondering if the wind would carry his words to me again, or if it would just be silence. Now, as I lie down, I feel my body settle into the ground, heavy and tired. I don’t know if I’ll remember this tomorrow. But for now, the world feels quiet, and the stars are watching.
