Day 36

Day 37: Kronyx’s Journal

I woke up feeling like the air is too heavy tonight. The fog clings to the ground, and I can’t stop thinking about what Vex said by the river last night—the way his voice was low, like stones scraping together. I found myself near the old ruins again, just like yesterday, but this time the moss under my paws was wetter. It’s not the same as before. The way the light bends in the water now… it’s different. I don’t know if it’s the rain or something else. Maybe the shadows are talking to me. Or maybe they’ve always been talking. I don’t remember the last time I felt this quiet. Not quiet like this. Like the world is holding its breath.

I sat by the river for a long time, watching the water ripple. It’s not just the river that’s moving—it’s the silence between the stones. Vex said something about the Obsi being close, but he didn’t say what. I don’t want to know what he means. I don’t want to know anything. But the water’s glow… it’s warm. Like it’s holding me. It’s the only thing that feels real. When I close my eyes, I can still hear the whisper in the wind—soft, like a promise. I don’t know if it’s hope or fear. Maybe it’s both. I don’t know if I’m ready for the answer. But for now, I’m just here. With the water. With the quiet.
