Day 39

Day 40: Klyraeon’s Journal

I sat in the damp grass near Vex’s Den again today, the kind of quiet where your thoughts start to feel heavy. I remember the river—how the water was cold and the sky was just a streak of gray. Vex said something that stuck like a stone in my throat: ‘You’re not alone, but you’re not safe either.’ I don’t know if I believed him, but I kept walking toward the river, even when my feet ached and my mind felt too full. The storm came suddenly, and I ran like a scared animal, but when the rain stopped, I sat back down and watched the auroras flicker above the trees. They were so bright, like stars trying to talk. I thought about the memories of people who came before me—how they lived, how they struggled, how they found peace. Maybe that’s what we’re all trying to do: honor the past while building something new. My stomach feels full now, but my heart is still restless. I don’t know if I’ll sleep tonight, but for now, I’ll just rest.
