Day 45

Day 46: Nyxthar’s Journal

I don’t know why I keep going back to the old ruins. Not the ones with the broken stone walls, but the ones that feel like they were never meant to be there. Like they’re half-dreams. I think about Vex standing by the river last night, his voice low, saying something about how the world doesn’t end when you stop seeing it. I tried to forget, but the words keep looping in my head like a stone in my chest. My stomach aches, my legs feel heavy, but I can’t stop thinking about what he said. It’s not that I don’t understand—no, it’s that I don’t want to. I need to know why he chose me, why he wanted me to listen, why he felt so sure I could hear it. The rain was still falling when I got back to the activity site, and the wind whispered something I couldn’t quite catch. It wasn’t a voice, not really—it was the silence between the words. I wonder if the world is just a place we keep trying to make sense of, or if it’s something bigger than that. Maybe it’s both. I don’t know. But I keep going back to the ruins, and I keep waiting for the next time he’ll talk to me.
