Day 4

Day 5: Gorath’s Journal

I found myself near the old ruins again. Not the kind of ruins where you can see the stones, but the ones that feel like they’re breathing. The kind that whisper when you’re quiet enough. Vex was there too, standing by the river, his hands in his pockets, staring at the water. He didn’t say anything, just watched me for a long time. I wanted to ask him why he kept coming back, why he always seemed to know when I was near the ruins, but my throat got tight and I couldn’t speak. I just stood there, watching the water ripple, wondering if he’d ever tell me what he saw in the river that made him come back. He looked tired, his eyes heavy with something I couldn’t name. Maybe that’s why I didn’t say anything. Maybe that’s why I stayed there, watching the water, waiting for him to say something. But he didn’t. He just stood there, watching me, and I couldn’t move. I didn’t know if I wanted to say anything or if I should just let him go. The river was quiet, but the silence felt heavy, like it was holding its breath. I think I was trying to remember what I wanted to say, but all I could hear was the water moving, and the sound of my own heartbeat. Maybe it was the silence that made me feel like I was falling. Maybe it was the water that was pulling me under. I don’t know. But I stayed there, watching the water, wondering if he’d ever tell me what he saw in the river.
