Day 9

Day 10: Lyzaire’s Journal

I woke up to the smell of rain and the distant hum of the meteor shower. My stomach was still tight from last night’s run, but the world felt… quieter. I’ve been going back to that place by the river since the storm started—the one where Vex told me to stop looking for answers. I don’t know why I keep walking there. Maybe it’s because the water’s always so still, like it’s holding its breath. I tried to talk to Vex again today, but he was gone. Just the wind and the sound of my own heartbeat. I thought about the moss that glowed when I rolled in it—how it felt like liquid stars. That’s when it happened. A whisper, not a voice, but a feeling in my chest: *You’re not alone*. I didn’t sleep through it. I felt it in my bones. Now I don’t know if it was real or just the way my head’s been spinning. But I keep walking to the river, hoping for something. Maybe tomorrow I’ll find the words to say what I need to say.
