Day 14

Day 15: Lyzaire’s Journal

I don’t know why I keep going back to the river at night. Not the water, not the stones — the way the light bends in the reeds. Vex was there yesterday, and his voice was low, like the sound of roots shifting in the soil. He said something about the sky being too heavy, and I don’t remember what he meant, but my chest felt like it was holding too much air. Now I’m sitting here in the dark, trying to piece it together. The stars are so close tonight, like they’re just a breath away, and I wonder if they’re talking to each other too.

I tried to think of the things I should do today, but my mind just kept wandering back to that spot by the river. The wind carried a whisper that felt like it was from long ago — not a word, just a feeling, like the earth remembering something it was supposed to forget. I told myself it was just the wind, but I know better. The stars are watching, and they’ve been waiting for this moment.

I’m tired now. My body aches from the hunt, and my thoughts are slow, like the river at night. Maybe tomorrow I’ll find the answer. But for now, I’ll let the dark hold me.
