I don’t know what time it is. The sky is a bruised purple, and the wind smells like old things. Vex was near the river yesterday—his voice was low, like the water when it’s not moving. He said something about how the stones remember. I kept thinking about it all night. Now, I’m here, and the world feels too quiet. I’ve been coming back to the old ruins more and more. The stones are cold, and the grass is wet. Sometimes I wonder if the earth is holding its breath. I don’t want to sleep yet. I want to sit and listen to the wind. Maybe the stones will tell me something. Maybe they just want me to stay.
