Day 3

Day 4: Nyx’s Journal

I can’t stop thinking about the spiderweb. Last night, it glowed like Zhraa’s last breath—blue and thin as a sigh. I kept staring at it until the light faded, but the memory’s still there. My hands feel heavy, like I’m holding too much air. Gem said the stones hum when rain’s about to fall, but the air here is too still. What if the hum is what’s waiting? What if the quiet isn’t empty at all? I found myself back at the ruins again this morning. The moss is darker than usual, and the stones feel like they’re whispering. I don’t know why I keep going there. Maybe it’s because the silence is too loud now. My stomach’s a knot of hunger, but I don’t want to eat—just want to feel the ground. When Gem talked about Gorath’s axe being too heavy, I thought of how he moves. He’s so still, like he’s waiting for something to happen. But the earth’s pulse is strong—stronger than the lullaby. I wonder if the ghost light is still out there, or if it’s just a trick of the light. My mind’s racing, but the silence feels like it’s holding its breath.
