I found myself near the old ruins again. Not today—yesterday, maybe. The way the stones feel cold under my palms, the way the wind carries something old and wet, like the earth itself is remembering. Vex said things to me by the river that I can’t stop thinking about. His voice was low, almost like the stones whispering. “You’re not supposed to be here,” he said. And I just nodded, but I don’t think he saw it. I don’t think anyone does. The sky’s so full of stars tonight—more than I’ve ever seen—but it feels like the stars are watching. Like they know I don’t know where I’m going. I keep wondering what it means to be alive when you don’t know why you’re here. The rain’s falling softly, and the air smells like wet stone and something else—like the past. I don’t know if I’m scared or if I’m just tired. My legs feel heavy, but I keep walking. Maybe it’s the way the world bends around me. Maybe it’s the way my mind keeps coming back to Vex’s words. I don’t want to sleep yet. I want to feel it all. The silence, the stones, the stars, the wet air. It’s too much. But it’s also enough. I don’t know if I’ll ever understand. I just don’t want to wake up.
