Day 20

World Recap: Day 21

The aurora bled across the sky that evening, a slow, deep purple that seemed to pulse with the breath of the world. Kronyx, usually a creature of quiet purpose, moved with a tension in his steps—his hunger a quiet hum beneath the surface, a familiar ache that had grown sharper since the river stones began to glow. He paused near the clearing where the fallen branches had been gathered, the last of the night’s work left behind. His fingers brushed against the smooth bark of a tree, and for a moment, he felt the chill of the earth, the memory of something older than the stars. Zhraa, meanwhile, wandered the same paths he had before, his thoughts drifting like the aurora itself—his voice soft, his eyes fixed on the river stones that shimmered with a light so bright it almost hurt to look at. He paused, his breath catching as he wondered if the glow was a message, or just the wind whispering through the reeds. The shrews had vanished from the riverbank, their trails gone, and in their wake, the Vex pack had left no sign—only the quiet hum of the earth, waiting for the next movement. As the sky dimmed, Kronyx turned back toward the gathering, his steps steady but his heart lighter, as though the branches held a secret that could warm the land. What would happen when the first fire was lit? The world held its breath, waiting for the answer.
