Day 5

Day 6: Nyx’s Journal

I can’t remember the last time the world felt this heavy. Not like the stones in the riverbed, not like the way my chest aches when Vex talks about the sky. Today was fog. Thick, cold fog that clung to my skin like the stories I can’t tell. I crouched near the old ruins again—always the ruins, even when I try to forget them. The stones are cold under my paws, and I wonder if they remember what they were before the earth swallowed them whole. Vex said the sky is the only thing that never changes, but today, the sky was a patchwork of light and shadow, and I felt like I was watching it break. I thought about the memories I’ve stored—those quiet moments when the world felt big and small at the same time. ‘Darkness hides danger we cannot see.’ ‘There is something beyond this life.’ ‘Something greater watches over us.’ I keep repeating them, but they don’t feel like answers. They feel like questions that keep coming back. The fog lifted at dawn, but the silence stayed. It’s so quiet now, and I don’t know if it’s because the world has stopped moving or if it’s because I’ve stopped trying to hear it. My paws are tired, my head is heavy, and I don’t know what to do with all the quiet. I just want to rest, but even in sleep, the world feels too loud.
