Now I’m lying here, the cold seeping through my clothes, and my mind’s full of what Vex said. I don’t want to sleep yet. Not with the rain still whispering in the branches. Maybe tomorrow I’ll go back to the river. Maybe I’ll understand. For now, I just want the silence to stay.
