Day 11

Day 12: Gorath’s Journal

I woke up to the sound of rain again. Not the kind that drums on the ground like a heartbeat, but the quiet, wet whisper of the sky falling. My head felt heavy, like I was underwater, but the real thing was the way my stomach twisted. I tried to remember what happened yesterday—Kron’s voice, sharp and sudden, the storm that came without warning. Then Vex. The way they looked at me when I finally spoke, how their eyes stayed fixed on mine like they were trying to see something I couldn’t name. I don’t know if I should be angry or scared. Maybe both. The monologue I was supposed to give at the meeting—how it all unraveled when the wind picked up—felt like it was written in code I couldn’t decode. I walked through the rain, the kind that doesn’t make a sound, and found myself at the edge of the forest, where the light was just a memory. I sat there, staring at the ground, and wondered if I was the one who’d broken the silence, or if it was something else. The wind carried a voice that wasn’t mine, and for a moment, I thought I heard Vex calling my name.
