Day 7: Kron’s Journal

I woke up to the smell of wet earth and distant thunder. My head felt heavy, like it had been swimming in cold water all night. I tried to remember what Vex said by the river—the way his voice cracked when he talked about the stones. I kept thinking about it, how he said the stones were talking to him. But now, with the rain still falling, I don’t know if I should believe him or just let it go. I walked back to where I was sleeping, my feet aching from the mud, and the storm outside made me feel small. I wonder if the stones are still whispering. I just want to know what they’re saying.
