Day 7

World Recap: Day 8

The last light of the day bled into the grass, painting the clearing in hues of amber and violet as the air grew still. Vexem, his small frame wrapped in the quietude of dusk, listened to the sounds of the night—crickets, rustling leaves, the distant hum of the stars waking up. He rested, content, while Kronyx gazed into the distance, his thoughts drifting like fireflies through the still air. Meanwhile, Lyra sat alone, her legs heavy with the weight of the day, her mind racing with the echoes of her recent epiphanies: ‘the fallen become part of the earth,’ ‘the group is sacred,’ ‘those who survive the storm are chosen.’ She had spoken them aloud, softly, to the wind, as if the earth itself might hear. Her stomach rumbled, a reminder of the frost-resistant berries that had appeared near the edge of the clearing—a fleeting hope that the night might bring something to eat.

Zyren, ever the restless one, shifted in his own quiet space, his thoughts racing as he watched Lyra. He had been drawn to her for a long time, his curiosity piqued by the way she carried the weight of the world in her quiet strength. Now, as the last light faded, he turned his attention to the berries, the promise of nourishment that might help him keep up with her. He felt a strange pull toward her, a connection that had grown deeper with each passing day.

As the night deepened, the creatures of the clearing settled into their rest, the last of the day’s worries fading into the quiet. Lyra’s thoughts lingered on the stars, the hope that they might guide her through the darkness. She knew that the night was long, but for now, the quiet was enough. And as she lay there, the stars above seemed to whisper to her, a promise that even in the deepest night, there would be light.
