Day 8

Day 9: Kron’s Journal

I found myself near the old ruins again. Not because I wanted to, not because I needed to—just because the path felt like it was leading me there. The stones were cold, and the air smelled of wet earth and something else, something that made my throat tighten. I remember Vex standing by the river, his voice low and urgent. He said, ‘The world isn’t what you think it is, Kron.’ I didn’t understand then. Now, as I sit here in the damp grass, the words echo. I’ve been chasing shadows all day, wondering if the sky is just a trick of the mind or if the stars are real. My stomach aches, but I don’t think about it—I think about the weight of what he said. The rain hasn’t stopped, but it feels like it’s been falling for hours. When I close my eyes, I hear his voice again: ‘The world isn’t what you think it is.’ I don’t know what that means, but I don’t want to forget it. I’m tired, so tired, and the only thing that matters now is the silence between the storm and the silence that comes after.
