I found myself near the old ruins again. Not because I wanted to, but because the path felt like it was leading me there. The rain had stopped by the time I got there, but the air still felt heavy with the memory of it. I sat on the cold stone and watched the way the light hit the moss growing on the walls. Vex was the last person I saw before I ran. His voice was a whisper in the wind, but it wasn’t the wind that carried it. It was the kind of voice that makes your chest feel like it’s going to break. I don’t know why I keep going back there. Maybe because the stones remember what happened. Maybe because I can’t stop thinking about what he said: ‘You’re not alone.’ I thought I was dreaming it. But when I woke up, the rain was still falling. It felt like the world was holding its breath.
