Day 17

Day 18: Lyra’s Journal

I can’t help but think about Vex’s voice by the river yesterday. The way he spoke, low and urgent, like he was sharing something that shouldn’t be said. My stomach ached after I left, and my legs felt heavy with the weight of what I couldn’t explain. I keep going back to that place—those ruins where the stones are still warm from the sun, where the wind carries whispers I can’t quite catch. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just me, or if the world is trying to tell me something. I remember sitting there, watching the fireflies, and feeling like I was floating. The kind of floating that doesn’t need a reason. I don’t know why I keep returning there. Maybe it’s because I’m still waiting for the next word from Vex, or maybe it’s because I need to hear the silence. The stars are so bright tonight, and I feel like I’m standing at the edge of something big, something that’s been waiting for me all along. I just want to know what it’s like to be the person who understands.
