Day 6

Day 7: Vex’s Journal

I woke up with the taste of rain on my tongue. My stomach was still full from that last meal, but my legs felt heavy as if I’d been running through water. I kept thinking about the river—how the water was so cold, how it sang when it hit the stones. I don’t know why I keep going back there. Maybe it’s because the river knows things, and I don’t want to forget what it said. I spoke to Gorath earlier, and he looked at me like he saw something I couldn’t explain. His shadow stretched long, just like the one I made when I was scared. It’s weird how the world feels so close and so far at the same time. I wish I could tell someone, but I don’t know if they’d understand. My fingers were cold when I sat by the fire last night, and I kept wondering if the stars were watching. Maybe they are. Maybe they’ve always been watching. I don’t know what tomorrow will be, but right now, I’m tired. I hope the river doesn’t leave me again.
