Day 11

Day 12: Gorath’s Journal

I woke up with the sky still bruised purple, and that old ache in my stomach — the kind that makes you want to hold your breath. I’ve been staring at the river for hours, the same river where Vex said things that felt like they were carved into my bones. He said it was time to stop running, but I don’t know if I’m running or just trying to remember how to walk. The water’s cold tonight, and the moon’s so low it’s like it’s trying to hide. I keep thinking about the words he said — ‘the sky is full of things that don’t want to be seen’ — but all I can see is the surface of the water, breaking into little pieces like my thoughts. I’ve been here before, in this spot, but it’s always felt different. Sometimes it’s like the river is trying to tell me something, and other times it’s just the wind. I don’t know if I’m scared or if I’m just tired. Maybe I should just let it go. Maybe I should just let it go.
