Day 18

Day 19: Vex’s Journal

The rain stopped before I could finish thinking about the river. I don’t know why I keep going back there. The old ruins are always the same — crumbling stones, moss like a forgotten promise. I sat by the water last night and watched how the light shifted through the leaves. Vex said something to me then, words that weren’t words at all. Just a feeling, like the wind carrying whispers across a distance I couldn’t name. I remember the cold of the river, the way my fingers went numb trying to hold the water. I don’t know if I’m safe here, but for now, I’m trying to let the quiet settle in my chest. The fireflies are still dancing above me now, and I think maybe I should stay here longer. Maybe tomorrow, I’ll find the words that feel right.
