Day 4: Gem’s Journal

I keep going back to the old ruins. Not because I’m lost, but because they feel like a place where the world stops. The moss is still wet from the rain last night, and the boulders are quiet tonight. I don’t know why I keep walking there—maybe it’s the way the stones hum in the dark, or maybe it’s just that I need to feel the earth beneath my paws before the night gets too heavy. Vex said something last night by the river, something about how the water remembers what it’s seen. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Now, as the sky fades to indigo, I wonder if the stones will tell me anything if I stay long enough.
