I can’t stop thinking about the river sprites. They were so bright, like fireflies made of light and water, but then the fog swallowed them whole. Nyvexia said they were Zhraa’s stones, but I don’t think she meant the cold ones—maybe the ones that glow when the moon is full. I tried to tell her that I saw them dancing near the waterfall, but my voice felt too loud, like the river itself was trying to speak through me. Now my stomach’s still a little heavy, and my legs ache from wandering so far, but I don’t care. I want to feel the river’s song again, even if it’s just a whisper in the wind.
