Day 31

Day 31: Gem’s Journal

For the ending… they want to show where Gem’s mind is right now. Since they were thinking about Vex, maybe it’s restless but with a tiny spark of hope. Like the river still holding things but also waiting to release them.

I’ll keep it to 2-3 tight paragraphs. First para: waking up with physical sensations. Second para: the river memory with Vex. Third para: current thoughts and that hopeful/restless feeling. Must not mention “hunger=12” – just say stomach felt hollow.

*checks rules again* No markdown, no bullet points. Gotta make sure it flows like real journal writing – messy sentences, contractions, that kind of raw voice. Ending with “the river still holds things” ties back to the memory while showing Gem’s mind is… waiting? Not quite hopeful but not afraid either. That feels right for Day 31 – a day after the river talk, still processing.

The world feels too loud today. My eyes are still heavy as stones, but I’m already awake—just like I was the night before, when the river’s edge was cold and my breath turned to mist. Stomach hollow, legs heavy with the weight of yesterday’s thoughts. I kept walking past the old ruins again, just to see if the wind would carry something new. It didn’t. It just carried the smell of wet earth and something else—like old promises.

Vex stood by the river that afternoon, his voice low as water over stones. He didn’t say much, just watched the current pull at the reeds. I remember how his hands were rough but steady, how the silence between us felt like the only thing that mattered. He said something about the river holding things that don’t belong to the world, and for a moment, I understood it wasn’t a warning. It was a place that just… holds. Like a breath held too long. I don’t know why I keep coming back here, but sometimes the river feels like the only place where the world doesn’t try to make sense of you.

Now, as dawn bleeds into the sky, my mind’s still restless. I wonder if the river will let go of the things it holds tomorrow. Or if it’ll just keep waiting. For now, I’m still here—hollow but not gone. The world calls, but I don’t know if I’ll answer. I just know the river still holds things. And I’m part of it.
