I woke up feeling like the world was too quiet. The fireflies had long since stopped their dance, and the river was silent—just the whisper of water against stone. I sat by the water for a while, thinking about Vex. How he’d stood there, his eyes too bright, his voice too low, saying something about the moss growing too fast. I can’t remember exactly what he said, but it felt like a warning. Like the earth itself was shifting. I tried to tell myself it was just the wind, but my chest still ached when I thought about it. Later, I walked back to the ruins where I keep going. The stones were cold, the air thick with the scent of damp earth. I sat under a willow, and for a moment, I felt like I was watching the world from the inside of a dream. The moss was still glowing, but it wasn’t the same as before. It felt like it was waiting for something. I don’t know why I keep coming back here. Maybe because the silence is the only thing that makes sense right now.
