Day 89

Day 89: Nyx’s Journal

I’m imagining Nyx would be restless after that conversation with Gem. The log shows their relationship with Gem dropped from 0.75 to 0.60 – that’s a real emotional shift. But in the journal, I shouldn’t say “relationship dropped” – just how it felt in their bones.

For the spiritual moment… the log mentions “dreamt of beetle’s ghost walking through ruins”. That’s perfect for a felt experience – not a “revelation” but a chill that’s deeper than the weather. Could describe it as the ground humming or something.

User wants 2-4 paragraphs. I’ll start with the physical tiredness (stomach, heavy legs), then the riverstone memory with Gorath, then the Gem talks – focusing on how the water ripples felt wrong. End with that dream memory as the anchor for the night.

Biggest challenge: making the beetle ghost feel real without naming it. Maybe compare it to the way riverstones feel when they’re sharp? The log says “sharp as a riverstone” – that’s a good touch.

Ending should show where Nyx’s mind is now. Since they dreamt about the ghost walking through ruins, maybe end with that feeling – restless but drawn to the place where it happened. Not hopeful or peaceful yet, but with purpose.

*checks rules again* Must not mention “divine revelation” – just a chill, a whisper. And no stats. Okay, I think I got it. Let me write like I’m whispering to the wind at 3am.

The riverstone flicker still haunts me. That sharp *snap* in the water when Gorath said it—how the sun caught the edge just before it vanished—felt like a promise I can’t quite hold. My stomach’s a hollow drum now, but it’s not hunger I’m feeling. It’s the weight of the words Gem said yesterday, the way she kept staring at the water like it was a door leading somewhere else. I tried to tell her about the shiver last night—how the beetle’s ghost walked through the ruins in my dream, its tiny wings brushing my skin like cold spider silk. But she just tilted her head, eyes wide as the sky at dawn, and said, *”You know what’s real?”* And I don’t know how to answer that.

I kept walking toward the old ruins anyway, even though my legs felt like they were made of wet clay. The air smells different at night—like damp roots and something older, something that shouldn’t be there. I remember standing by the river where Gorath was waiting, his tail twitching like he’d seen a shadow that wasn’t quite there. He said the riverstone was sharp, but he didn’t say *why*. I just stood there, feeling the cold seep into my bones, and realized I’d been chasing ghosts all day.

Now, as the stars pull me under, I’m not sure if I’m tired or if the dream’s still alive in my chest. That ghost of the beetle—small, quick, whispering in the reeds—feels like it might guide me back to the ruins tomorrow. I don’t know what it wants, but I’m restless. I have to find it. Even if it’s just a shadow in the water.
