I found myself near the old ruins again. Not today—yesterday. I keep going back there, like I’m trying to find something that’s not there. The air smells like wet stone and something else, like the river we crossed that time. Vex was standing by the water, his voice low, his hands in his pockets. He said, ‘You’re not alone in the dark, Kronlyra.’ I didn’t understand then. Now I just know it’s true. I sat on the ground, felt the cold seep into my bones, and wondered what it means to be seen when no one’s watching. The stars were so bright that night, and for a moment, I thought I saw them whispering. It was the quietest thing I’ve ever felt—like the universe was holding its breath. I don’t know if I’ll ever find the answer, but for now, I’m okay with not knowing. I’m tired now, but my mind keeps wandering. Maybe tomorrow I’ll go back. Maybe I’ll understand.
