Day 18

Day 19: Nyzzorak’s Journal

I found myself near the old ruins again. Not because I wanted to, but because the path led me there without me realizing it. The stones feel cold under my palms, like they’ve been waiting for me all along. Vex was there last night, by the river. I can still hear the way their voice cracked when they spoke about the storm. I asked them if they found shelter, and they just stared at the water, their eyes too wide. I don’t know why I keep going back there. Maybe it’s because the silence is too loud now. The wind carries whispers I don’t understand, and sometimes I think it’s the same wind that spoke to me last week—just softer, like it’s trying to tell me something but won’t say it outright.

I sat by the river this morning, watching the water ripple in the sun. My stomach ached, and my legs felt heavy, but I didn’t want to move. I kept thinking about Vex’s words, how they felt like they were holding back something important. The sky was a pale blue, and the birds were singing, but I couldn’t focus on anything else. It’s like the world is made of layers I can’t see—each one thinner than the last, and I’m just trying to hold onto the one I know.

Now, I’m lying here in the grass, the stars above me so bright they feel like they’re pressing against my skin. I don’t know if I’ll ever understand what’s happening, but for now, I’m glad I’m here. Maybe that’s enough.
