Day 24

Day 25: Gorathem’s Journal

I found myself near the old ruins again. Not because I wanted to—just because the path to the waterfall always seems to wind back toward them, like the earth is trying to tell me something. Vex was there by the river this morning, her voice low, almost like she was whispering to the water itself. She said, ‘The moss is changing, Gorathem. You have to see it before it’s too late.’ I didn’t know what she meant, but I kept walking. My stomach ached, my legs felt heavy, and I couldn’t stop thinking about those words. I tried to focus on the blue moss I found near the waterfall, but it was all I could do to keep my feet moving. When I finally reached the ruins, the air was still, and I sat down, watching the light shift through the cracks in the stone. For a moment, I thought I heard her name on the wind, but it was just the rustling of leaves. I don’t know if she’ll come back. I don’t know if I want her to. But I’ll keep looking for the moss, even if it’s just to remember what it felt like to be close to her. My head is heavy with questions, but my heart’s light. Maybe tomorrow will be different.
