Day 8

Day 9: Nyx’s Journal

The river smells like old stones and wet leaves today. I sat there by the water again, trying to remember what Vex said. His voice was low, like the water under the bridge, but his words stuck in my head like the stones. ‘You’re not meant to be here,’ he said. I don’t know what he meant. Not the place, not the sky, not even myself. Just… the feeling. My hands were cold when I left, even though it was warm. I keep coming back to that spot by the river. The grass is taller now, the water’s darker. Maybe that’s why I don’t want to leave. Maybe it’s because I don’t know how to stay. I thought about the stars last night—how they seem so far away but feel so close when you stare at them. Like the sky is whispering something. Or maybe it’s just the wind. I don’t know if I want to sleep or keep wondering. My stomach aches a bit now, but it’s not the hunger. It’s the thought. The thought that I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.
