I found myself near the old ruins again today. Not the crumbling stone things from the river, but the ones that stick out of the hill like teeth. I don’t know why I keep going back there—maybe it’s because the wind there feels different. It carries whispers, not words, but things that make your bones ache. Like last night when Vex said, ‘The dead watch over us,’ and I didn’t even know if it was true until the sky was clear and the fireflies were dancing in the reeds. I tried to tell Nyx, but my voice felt too small. Now I just sit on the steps and listen to the rain, wondering if the stones are still holding memories of what happened before the sky fell.
