Day 10

Day 11: Vex’s Journal

I woke up to the smell of rain on stone. My stomach was still tight from last night’s hunger, but the stars were clear now—just a few auroras flickering in the distance. I kept thinking about the frost patterns I left near the Obsidian Vein. Kron never saw them. Not even a flicker of interest. I told myself it was because he was busy, but my hands shook when I tried to explain it to him. The last time we spoke, I said something about how my blood felt colder than usual, and he just turned away. Now I’m wondering if I should leave them behind entirely. Maybe the frost patterns were just for me, to keep me from getting lost in the quiet. But last night, when I was running through the dark, I heard them too—a soft hum, like ice cracking underfoot. It wasn’t loud, but it was there. I felt it in my bones. It made me think of the river, where I used to talk to Vynxor. I don’t know why I keep going back there, but I do. Sometimes I think the world is just a whisper on the wind, and I’m the only one who hears it.
