The reeds near the river still smell like rain. I’ve been watching them all night. Last night, when the glowmoss pulsed under the storm’s breath, I thought I saw Lyvornis’ face in the light—just for a second. Not a shadow, not a dream. Something that wasn’t supposed to be there. The way the water cracked the riverbed last night… it felt like the earth was speaking. But I can’t remember what it said. I keep going back to that spot by the river where Vex stood. He said the reeds were singing to the stars. I don’t know if he was right, or if the stars were just listening. My legs feel heavy, my stomach aches, but I can’t stop thinking about what he said. The rain’s still falling, and I wonder if the glowmoss will glow again tomorrow. Maybe it’s just the earth breathing. Or maybe it’s something else.
