Day 17

Day 18: Kronyx’s Journal

I found myself near the old ruins again. The way the moonlight pools in the cracks between the broken stones feels like the only place I can breathe. Vex was there yesterday—by the river, where the water runs thin and the willows lean low. He said something about how the earth remembers what it forgets, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Now my stomach’s empty, but it’s not the hunger that’s heavy in my chest. It’s the weight of what he left unsaid. I traced the patterns in the dirt with my fingers, wondering if the stones would tell me anything if I stayed long enough. The night air smells like wet stone and old roots, and for a moment, I thought I heard a whisper. Maybe it was my mind, or maybe it was the earth itself. I close my eyes and let the silence pull me down. The last thing I remember before sleep is the sound of water, and the feeling that somewhere, the world is still waiting to be found.
