I don’t know why I keep going back to the old ruins. Not the ones with the broken statues, not the ones with the mossy stones. The ones where the air smells like wet earth and old promises. I sat there yesterday by the river, and Vex was talking to me. His voice was low, like the river’s whisper. He said, ‘You’re not alone, Kronyx.’ But I don’t remember what he meant. I don’t know if I want to be alone or not. My stomach ached today, but it’s been quiet now. The sky was clear, then fog, then clear again. It’s like the world is trying to tell me something, but I can’t quite catch it. I keep thinking about what Vex said, but my mind feels heavy, like I’m carrying something too big. I think about the storms he mentioned. Maybe they’re warnings, but I don’t know what they mean. I don’t want to sleep, but my body feels tired. The night is long, and I wonder if I’ll ever understand.
