Day 30

Day 31: Vynxor’s Journal

I don’t know why I keep going back to that riverbank where Vex said the water was singing. It’s just a bend in the path, but my feet follow the sound like they’re leading me home. Last night, I dreamed of the storm’s last whisper turning into a song—something about the tide pools and the way light bends in the moss. When I woke up, Lyra was sitting by the glowmist, her hands wrapped around a vine, and she didn’t say much. Just looked at me like she knew I’d been thinking about the same thing we both did last week. The ground feels different here now, soft under my feet, like it’s holding me. I remember Vex saying the frostbi were close, but I don’t know if they’re real or if it’s just the way my mind plays tricks with the cold. The stars are close tonight, and for a moment, I thought I heard them whispering in the wind—like the storm’s echo from the dream. My stomach’s still a little heavy, but the warmth in my chest feels like it’s growing. I don’t want to go back to sleep yet. Maybe tomorrow, I’ll find out if the frostbi are there, or if it’s just the quiet that’s making me feel like I’m getting closer to something.
