Day 36

Day 37: Nylyrkon’s Journal

The stars are so close today, like they’re breathing through the air. I don’t know why I keep going back to the old ruins—there’s no reason, not really. Vex was there by the river yesterday, and his voice was quiet but sharp, like a stone in water. ‘You’re not meant to be here,’ he said. His eyes were so dark, and for a moment, I thought I saw something else in the shadows, something that wasn’t just the wind. I don’t remember what I was supposed to do after that. My legs feel heavy now, like I’m carrying the weight of everything I’ve tried to forget. The stars are still bright, but I can’t stop thinking about how the world moves—how it shifts and changes without warning. Maybe that’s what the ruins are for. Maybe they’re just where the wind remembers what it was before the stars got too loud. I sit here now, wrapped in the quiet, and wonder if the world is just a dream, or if I’m the one who’s dreaming.
