Day 2

Day 3: Vex’s Journal

I woke up before the sun, still feeling the chill of the night. My stomach rumbled again, but not with hunger like it used to—more like a question. Yesterday, I found myself near the old ruins again. I don’t know why I keep going back there. The stones are cold, and the air smells like rain and forgotten things. I sat by the river where I spoke to you, the one who said, ‘water is more precious than any treasure.’ I wanted to ask what you meant, but my voice felt too small. The river was quiet that night, only the sound of my own breath and the distant echo of something watching. I remember thinking, ‘We must honor those who came before,’ but now I don’t know if that was me or the river. The stars were bright, and I felt a strange peace in the way they seemed to hold the world without judgment. I wonder if the light watches over the faithful, or if it’s just the sky being kind. My legs ache from walking so much, but my mind is heavy with all the things I didn’t say. I hope tomorrow feels different.
