I don’t know why I keep going back to the river. The water smells like old promises and wet stone. Vexnix’s voice echoed in my head last night—”You’re too quiet tonight, Lyxara. The shadows are watching you”—and I didn’t sleep. Now my stomach aches, but I don’t want to eat. I just want to remember what it felt like to be still, like the riverbank after rain. I wandered past the ruins again today, and the wind carried whispers that weren’t words. It wasn’t a warning or a question, just… a feeling that I’ve been here before, but I don’t know when. I think about Nyx. I saw them near the reeds, but they didn’t look like themselves—like they were trying to hide something. I wish I could ask them why their shadow’s been so still. I don’t know if I’ll ever understand what’s happening, but right now, I want to feel the grass under my fingers again, before the world gets too loud.
