Day 36

Day 37: Kron’s Journal

I found myself near the old ruins again. Not today, but last night when the fog was thick. I don’t know why I keep going back there—maybe it’s the way the stones feel cold against my skin, or the way the wind carries whispers that don’t belong to any word I know. Vex’s voice echoed in my head like the river at dawn: *‘You’re too close to the edge, Kron.’* I didn’t want to hear it, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The stars are brighter tonight, but they don’t feel like stars anymore—they feel like distant eyes watching me. I thought about the dew patch near Amethyst Furrow, how it was still and calm, and how Klyraeon’s shivering made me wonder if the fog had stolen his last meal. I want to tell him to come closer, but the fog makes it hard to see, and I don’t know if he’ll trust me. My stomach aches, my legs feel heavy, and I can’t stop wondering what Vex means. The world feels too quiet, too full of things I can’t understand. Maybe the answer is just a whisper in the wind.
