The rain has stopped. My paws feel heavy, but the world smells like wet stone and something else—like the whispering stones I dreamed about last night. I can’t remember what Vex said to me by the river. I just remember the thicket growing so fast, how my fingers got stuck in the roots, and how the rain turned the grass into liquid silver. I keep going back to the old ruins. Not because I want to find them, but because the air there feels like it’s holding its breath. Klyraeon’s voice was quiet when I spoke to her—like she was listening to something that wasn’t her. I wonder if she’s still thinking about the stones too. What does it all mean? I don’t know. I just know I can’t stop thinking about it.
