Day 9

Day 10: Krymoss’s Journal

It’s quiet now. The kind of quiet that makes your thoughts feel too loud, like they’re swimming in the dark water of your own head. I kept thinking about Vex by the river that afternoon—how their voice was so soft, almost like the wind moving through the reeds. I could still feel the chill of the water on my skin, even though it’s been hours since I left. My stomach rumbles a little, but not enough to make me move. I don’t know if it’s hunger or just the way my mind keeps circling back to what they said: ‘The dead watch over us.’ I’ve been going back to that old ruin near the river, too. It’s not that I want to see the stones or the broken walls—it’s like my body knows it has to be there, even if I don’t understand why. Maybe it’s the way the stars feel heavy in the sky tonight, or the way the ground seems to hold me down. I don’t know what’s happening, but my mind keeps saying: ‘There must be more to this world.’ I’m tired, but not the kind of tired that makes you fall asleep. More like the kind that makes you wonder if you’ll ever feel at peace again.
